A multi-layer security cover of over 5,000 personnel, including the elite Force One commandos of Maharashtra, will be provided to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he arrives in Pune to inaugurate development works and also receive the Lokmanya Tilak National Award on Tuesday. The Pune Police has issued an order banning the use of drones while the traffic police has closed several arterial roads and provided a list of roads and traffic junctions that citizens have been advised to avoid between 6am and 3pm. While the preliminary responsibility of the Prime Minister's security lies with the Special Protection Group, the local police have been asked to provide adequate security to the venues that Modi would visit and on the routes that his convoy would take. As per the schedule announced by the Prime Minister's Office, PM Modi will perform a pooja at Pune's Dagdusheth Mandir around 11am on Tuesday. Later, he will be conferred the Lokmanya Tilak National Award at a ceremony that will be held at SP College Ground at 11:45am. Thereafter, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the two Metro stretches at 12:45pm. He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects in a function that will be held at the Parade ground of the Shivajinagar police headquarters. A senior officer from Pune City police said, "An elaborate security cover has been put in place after consultation with concerned agencies.The security detail comprises of 5,000 personnel, which includes three companies of State Reserve Police Force and one group of the elite anti-terror commando wing Force One-most of the personnel in this group have come from neighbouring jurisdictions like Satara, Sangli and Raigad. We will also be getting home guard personnel for crowd control etc. One senior officer from Pune City Police has been given the charge of the entire security detail of the individual venue." Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) R Raja issued an order on Sunday banning the use of drones in the entire area of responsibility in Pune city till August 2.
