Pune woke up to a hazy sky and chilly atmosphere Sunday morning as the minimum temperature in and around the city dipped considerably.

Shivajinagar and Pashan reported 13.2 degrees Celsius and 12.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. These temperatures are significantly lower than the 15-18 degrees Celsius range Pune and its surrounding areas have been reporting for the last week or so.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a further temperature dip of 2-3 degrees Celsius from Monday is expected as cold winds from north India will blow over Maharashtra.

As per the IMD, the minimum temperature is expected to touch 10 degrees Celsius for the next few days or dip further. Most parts of the state now report temperatures between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Koregaon Park and Chinchwad reported 17.9 degrees Celsius and 18.1 degrees Celsius respectively.

Though the IMD has predicted a warmer than usual winter across the country, for Pune, November has been uncharacteristically cold.

Lack of moisture in the air and no atmospheric systems have led to clear skies. These, along with longwave radiation at night, have significantly brought the temperature down to a level close to the hill station Mahabaleshwar in Satara.
