Pune trounce Pimpri,winU-19 hockey tournament

As many as three hockey matches were held at the Dhyanchand Stadium in Pimpri on Sunday. The first,was a one-sided affair,as Pune City defeated Pimpri 4-0 in the girls’ under-19 hockey final.

Pune City,which was represented by Fergusson College,saw Aishwarya Nalwade score three goals in the rout,finding the net in the 3 rd ,5 th and 18 th minute of the match. The other was added by Ambika Jadav in the 9 th minute,crushing Pimpri,which was represented by Rajiv Gandhi College,

In the second match,the under-14 boys’ final,Pune City,represented by Range Hills,beat Nagar Gramin,represented by Gautam Public School in a tightly contested match,which went into tie-breakers,followed by sudden death.

The match saw Moshin Shiekh,Giresh Pujari and Siddharth Ohar score for Pune City,while Iman Shiekh,Manish Chaudhary and Bhagwan Pawar scored for Nagar Gramin,before Ohar added his second,and the team’s fourth,to make it a 4-3 win for Pune City.

The final match of the day was the under-17 girls’ semi-final,which saw Pimpri-Chinchwad,represented by SNBP school narrowly beating Gautam Public School of Solapur. The final score was 3-2.
