Three people decamped with over 220 grams of gold ornaments by threatening the owner of a jewellery shop with a toy gun in the Dhayari area of Pune on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place around 2.50pm at Shri Jewellers Shop at Kalubai Chowk in Raykar Mala in Dhayari. The owner of the shop, Vishnu Sakharam Dahiwal and an employee, were present at the time of the incident. A man came into the shop and said that he wanted to buy a gold chain.
“When the owner was showing the man a gold chain, two more men barged into the shop. The trio then started hurling abuses at the owner. One of them threatened him with what looked like a gun, which we later found out was a toy gun. The trio started snatching the gold ornaments from the shop. As the owner started resisting, the suspect attacked him with the butt of the toy gun. During the altercation, the butt of the gun fell and the trio fled with around 220 grams of gold ornaments on a bike,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam.
“The suspects had their faces covered with masks. We have obtained the description of the suspects based on the CCTV footage and other clues from around the crime scene. We are also fetching details of the bike used by the suspects,” said Kadam.
Police said the first person is approximately 35-years-old and was wearing a red half-sleeve t-shirt and blue jeans. The second person is aged approximately 25 and was wearing a full black round-neck t-shirt, a black cap and black pants. The third person is also estimated to be around 25-years-old and was wearing a cream-colored full-sleeve round-neck t-shirt, white jeans, white shoes, a khaki-colored cap and carrying a black backpack.
