Pune siblings video call mother, attempt suicide shortly after on Bhai Dooj

The Pune police have initiated an investigation into the incident

A 19-year-old girl and her 24-year-old brother allegedly attempted suicide at their home in Pune’s Wanavdi on the occasion of Bhai Dooj Sunday.

According to reports, the siblings made a video call to their mother when she was out for some work informing her about their decision to end their lives and attempted suicide shortly after.

The woman rushed back home but the door was locked from inside. Thereafter, police and fire brigade teams reached the spot and broke open the door.

“The girl and her brother were found lying in an unconscious state inside the house. They were taken to a private hospital for treatment,” said fireman Subhash Khade.

The police said the siblings behaved normally after regaining consciousness. “Their condition is currently stable,” said Sanjay Patange, senior police inspector, Wanavdi police station.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
