Pune RPF cop, shelter staffer had molested another teen in April, probe reveals

The GRP has recorded the statement of the girl after which an FIR under relevant sections of the IPC, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has been registered.

The Government Railway Police on Wednesday booked RPF head constable Anil Pawar — accused of raping a minor girl from Chhattisgarh in September — and shelter home employee Kamlesh Tiwari in another incident in which a minor girl hailing from Nanded was molested in April this year.

“During our investigation, we found that a minor girl from Nanded and a boy from Pune were found by the volunteers of Siddharth Multipurpose Society and were taken to the shelter directly without producing them before the Child Welfare Committee. The couple spent 15 days at the shelter during which the minor girl was repeatedly molested by Pawar and Tiwari,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police (GRP) Mahesh Devikar.

The GRP has recorded the statement of the girl following which an FIR under sections 354 a (molestation), 384 (extortion), 342 (wrongful confinement) of Indian Penal Code, Section 9 (a) (i) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 and relevant sections of The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 has been registered.

Earlier, Anil Pawar, who had been absconding after being accused of raping a minor girl from Chhattisgarh in September, was arrested from Pune railway station on Tuesday.

Anil Pawar, who evaded arrest for 45 days despite efforts by several GRP teams, was taken into custody from the railway station, where he reached on Tuesday, three days after his anticipatory bail application was rejected by a Pune court.

“We have taken him into custody from the Pune railway station premises. He was produced before a judge, who has remanded him in police custody till December 18,” DSP (GRP) Mahesh Devikar told The Indian Express.

A 17-year-old girl from Chhattisgarh, who had arrived at the Pune railway station after eloping with her boyfriend in September, was taken to a ‘shelter home’ operated by the NGO Siddharth Multipurpose Society from railway quarters off Tadiwala Road and was allegedly raped several times over a week by Pawar and shelter home employee Kamlesh Tiwari. The ‘shelter home’ was practically run by Pawar in the name of his brother-in-law Premnath Rathod.

The Railway Protection Force constable is the sixth person to be arrested in the case.
