Pune: Co-passenger ‘drugs, robs’ B.Tech student in bus

The victim lodged a first information report (FIR) in this case at the Yerwada police station. The FIR has been transferred to the Khopoli police station in Raigad for further investigation, as the offence took place in its jurisdiction.

Police said the victim is a resident of Yerwada and a student of B.Tech in Food Science and Technology at a college in Pune. He had gone to Belapur in Navi Mumbai to appear for an examination on December 2.

A 20-year-old student on his way to Pune from Navi Mumbai was allegedly drugged and robbed by a co-passenger in Shivneri bus on Monday evening.

The victim lodged a first information report (FIR) in this case at the Yerwada police station. The FIR has been transferred to the Khopoli police station in Raigad for further investigation, as the offence took place in its jurisdiction.

While returning to Pune in a Shivneri bus of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), a co-passenger offered him a cold drink when the bus stopped at the Food Plaza in Khopoli, on the Pune – Mumbai expressway.

Police said the victim lost consciousness after having the cold drink. After reaching Pune, he was in a dizzy state. His valuables including a gold chain and wallet were missing. He hired an auto rickshaw to go home. The auto rickshaw driver informed his father about his condition over the phone and then dropped him home. His father then took him to a hospital for treatment. Later he lodged the FIR against the co-passenger. Police suspect the co-passenger put sedatives in the cold drink and robbed him of his valuables. Police have launched a probe into this incident.
