Pune: 9-month-old baby dies after falling in a pit

A nine-month-old baby boy died after falling in a pit filled with water near his residence at Adarsh Nagar area of Dapodi around 4 am on Monday.

The deceased, Sufiyan Hafiz Shaikh, was playing outside his house when he crawled towards a pit filled with water. Police suspect that he fell into the pit died. After coming to know about the incident, his family rushed him to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead by the doctors.

Meanwhile, police said last week his father died, while his mother was injured in a road mishap at Indapur. His mother is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The Bhosari police said that dead body of the boy was sent for post-mortem. Investigation is on to confirm how the incident took place.
