Police said they received a call from the New Thergaon hospital on Friday afternoon that some persons left Bhuval Mauya’s body at the hospital and fled. Soon, a team of a Wakad police station led by senior police inspector Ganesh Jawadwad initiated a probe.

Police found the number of the auto rickshaw in which Maurya’s body was brought to the hospital.  Police then arrested the autorickshaw driver Mhaske.  During interrogation, he told police that Maurya was not returning the money he had taken from Shubham Walhekar for some painting work. Also, he did not complete the painting.

According to police, Walhekar allegedly took Maurya to a spot in Walhekarwadi in a car and demanded his money back. When Maurya refused, Walhekar and his aides allegedly tied the painter with a rope and thrashed him badly due to which he became unconscious.

Police said the assailants then brought Maurya’s body to the New Thergaon hospital in an autorickshaw. They left the body at the hospital and fled from the spot. Doctors at the hospital found that Maurya was dead and informed the police.
