As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, State Election Commission has declared a programme ahead of upcoming elections for six council seats in the state. The elections are scheduled on November 19 in Sangli-Satara, Bhandara-Gondia, Yavatmal, Pune, Nanded and Jalgaon while the counting will be conducted on November 22.

The notification for MLC elections will be officially published on October 26 and the date for submitting nominations is November 2 according to a press conference conducted by the district administration. The district administration said that the scrutiny of the forms will be done the next day while the last date to withdraw nomination is November 5. The voting process for the council elections will be between 8 am to 4 pm.
For the city the last elections were conducted in 2010 when NCP candidate MLC Anil Bhosale was elected unopposed. The biennial elections in the state will be for six seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
The candidates will be elected from the local governing bodies where the elected corporators of municipal corporations and councils will vote. The elected members will have a tenure of six years. According to political parties, Gurumukh Das Jagwani, representing the Jalgaon local authorities constituency is the lone BJP face for these six seats, while the remaining seats are from Congress and NCP.
Amarnath Rajurkar from Nanded is likely to get the party ticket again while the remaining four seats are currently represented by the NCP. The Satara-cum-Sangli seat is represented by Prabhakar Gharge, Yavatmal represented by Sandip Bajoriya, Pune is represented by Bhosale and Bhandara-cum-Gondia by Rajendra Jain.
