Omkareshwar temple gets Rs 8 lakh for renovation

The district collector on Tuesday sanctioned Rs 8 lakh for renovation of Omkareshwar temple and cleared funds for revamp and upkeep of around 75 religious structures in the district.

The district collector on Tuesday sanctioned Rs 8 lakh for renovation of Omkareshwar temple and cleared funds for revamp and upkeep of around 75 religious structures in the district.

With a phase-wise sanction of Rs 8.5 crore,all the structures were allocated funds under the District Planning Development Council (DPDC) project. Besides Omkareshwar temple,other structures that have been allocated funds include Khandoba temple in Khed (Rs 5.32 lakh),Baneshwar temple (Rs 30 lakh),Tulapur temple (Rs 20 lakh). There has been a spillover of funds from the last DPDC and it has been used this year.

The Omkareshwar temple will be given funds for pavement work,water supply works and street lights. “Similar works will be carried out in all the temples and funds will be allocated as per the proposal,” said Deshmukh. Places like Kamar Ali Darvesh Darga and Dhaireshwari temple have been allocated additional Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh respectively besides the allocation for tourism development at these places.
