Normal rains in Pune, other parts of state report excess

However, rains have been more than active across other parts of the state. All districts of Marathwada reported excess rains, with Beed, Latur, Dharashiv and Nanded having reported more than 100 per cent excess rains. Flash floods had been reported in many parts of Nanded, which saw large tracts of land going underwater.

A similar situation was seen in Beed and Dharashiv. Districts of Solapur, Kolhapur, Sangli, Parbhani, Ahilyanagar and Yavatmal had reported excess rainfall. Satara, Gondia, Bhandara and Buldhana are the only three districts which had reported a large deficit of rainfall. Floods had been reported in parts of Marathwada due to the excess rain. Nanded reported large scale disruption of normal life as well as deaths. This was the second time Nanded reported flash floods this monsoon. Earlier this month, flash floods in Lendri barrage area had seen eight deaths due to floods.

The country as a whole has reported 727.6 mm of rainfall as compared to 686.6 mm of normal rainfall it is suppose to receive.

IMD forecasted heavy rainfall for Sunday and Monday in parts of Madhya Maharashtra (which includes Pune). Rainfall is expected till September 4 in parts of Madhya Maharashtra.
