No water in city tomorrow as PMC undertakes urgent repairs

Pune city will receive no water supply on Thursday due to urgent repairs and maintenance work at pumping stations under Parvati Water Works.

Pune city will receive no water supply on Thursday due to urgent repairs and maintenance work at pumping stations under Parvati Water Works. The water supply will be restored,with low pressure,on Friday.

The area covered under Parvati Water Works includes central parts of the city,including Dattawadi,Rajendranagar,Lomanyanagar,Deccan,Shivajinagar,Parvati,Sahakarnagar,Satara Road,Padmavati,Taljai,Katraj,Dhankawadi and Karvenagar.

The Vadgaon pumping station that covers Hingne,Anandnagar,Vadgaon,Dhayari,Ambegaon,Bharati Vidyapeeth,Kondhwa Budhruk,would also not supply water on Thursday,so would Pashan and Chatushrungi pumping stations.

The area covered by Pashan and Chatushrungi stations includes Pashan,Aundh,Bopodi,Gokhalenagar,Bavdhan,Baner,Rambaug,Bhusari colony,Sus,Sutarwadi,Bhugaon and Pune University. The area under Pune Cantonment Water Works,which includes Koregaon Park,Tadiwala road,Mundhwa,Vadgaonsheri,Chandannagar,Satavwadi and Vishrantwadi.

Meanwhile,the Sajag Nagrik Manch has urged the civic administration to install water meters at all water refilling stations to avoid irregularities in water supply.

The PMC supplies lakhs of litres of water from refilling stations to housing societies that face shortage of supply. A lot of private water tankers draw water from the stations. However,there is no record of the supply to these tankers and the civic body has been losing revenue due to it.
