No going back after parting ways with Sharad Pawar: NCP’s Sunil Tatkare

Confident his party would perform much better than it did during the Lok Sabha elections, state NCP chief Sunil Tatkare said there was no going back on parting ways from Sharad Pawar in any situation.

“It is true that the NCP(SP) under Sharad Pawar gave a good performance in the Lok Sabha elections. We will also fare well in the forthcoming assembly elections. We parted ways on grounds of certain issues and there is no going back now for sure,” Tatkare said.

He made the statements at an event called Maharasthra Vision 2050, organised by Patrakar Sangh on Friday.

“The Assembly polls will be different from the Lok Sabha one,” he said, adding there was going to be a stable government in the next five years which was in the interest of the state. “It could be the government of any political party or alliance but it is going to be a stable one,” he said, adding that the coalition government will remain in the state for the next few years considering the present political situation.

Tatkare said that the NCP only follows a secular ideology and statements made by BJP MLA Nitesh Rane about disturbing the state’s social harmony were not acceptable. “We do not support the statements made by Rane. We have raised the issue with BJP leaders concerned,” he added.
