If you are new to the city and think autorickshaw drivers may be overcharging,want to zero in on great places to eat out or visit some well-known places in Pune,Dixit Chopra has come up with an innovative solution. A final-year Information Technology (IT) student of the College of Engineering,Pune (CoEP),Chopra has developed Full2Pune,a mobile application that helps you do all this and more. Chopra said the application is aimed at providing various kinds of information about the city to anyone who needs it,at anytime. Since almost everyone has a mobile phone these days,I thought of making it a mobile application which can be used on any phone and by anyone,anywhere, said Chopra. Chopra said he came up with the idea of such an application as he himself had faced difficulties when he was new to the city. Owing to the language difference,I had some trouble navigating through the city in the beginning. Thats when the idea struck me, he said. The application for which a java-based software has been used,can be downloaded from the website full2pune.co.in. Apart from autorickshaw fares and places to visit,the application can also help people in obtaining phone numbers and addresses of hospitals,coffee shops or movie theatres. Information about local train timings and Mumbai-Pune trains can also be accessed. It is a simple application which does not even need GPRS to function. You just have to type the name of the place you want to go to and you can have all the information at the click of a button, said Chopra. Those who have been using the software give it a thumbs-up. The software is user-friendly. As many of the auto-drivers in the city often overcharge passengers,the auto fare feature makes it convenient for anyone to know the correct fare. The numbers of hospitals can also be accessed in case of an emergency, said Amrita Chougule,a third-year student at CoEP. Chopra,who is part of an entrepreneurship cell of the college,said,We are inspired to come up with such new applications which can make life hassle-free not only for the youth but for anyone. I am confident Full2Pune can be a big help for anyone who needs any kind of information about the city, added Chopra.
