The new chief executive officer (CEO) of the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB),Rachel Koshy,assumed charge here on Friday from outgoing CEO DK Malik. Koshy said she would give priority to speeding up the completion of the existing development projects undertaken by the Board apart from beautifying the Cantonment area. Koshy,an Indian Defence Estate Service (IDES) officer from the 1990 batch began her career as the Jt CEO of the Delhi Cantonment. In the last two decades,she has served in seven Cantonments in diverse capacities as CEO as well as Defence Estate Officer (DEO). Prior to taking charge at PCB,Koshy was the CEO of the Lucknow Cantonment Board (LCB),which falls under the Central Command Outgoing CEO D K Malik,who handed over charge to Koshy,described his brief 13-month tenure as satisfactory. Terming development activities as a continuous process,he said the administration under his tenure has set in motion the process to construct a sports complex and has reactivated the Vermicompost plant that was lying redundant at Hadapsar. Mailk has been promoted as the Additional Director General (Addl DG) and would take charge of his new assignment at the Ministry of Defence,New Delhi. Prior to taking charge as PCB CEO in February 2009,he served as the CEO of Kirkee Cantonment Board. Malik's tenure as PCB CEO saw substantial improvement of Cantonment aided schools in the form of improved infrastructure,introduction of scholarship for students and incentives for teachers. He was also instrumental in imposing a ban on the use of plastics in the Cantonment jurisdiction.
