Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of Maharashtra Legislative Council, on Friday lauded the Mahayuti government’s commitment and work ethics, while humorously enquiring if the top brass got adequate sleep.

On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was in Pune and started his day early by performing the bhoomi poojan of the proposed 10-storey family welfare bureau and training centre at 8 am.

“Ajit Pawar starting his day early is a good habit, but if we have to attend an early morning event then our day begins at 5 or 6 am. Meanwhile, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde works till 1 am. So where’s the time to rest?” she asked tongue in cheek, while also noting that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was alert the entire day.

Gorhe reminded the ministers to mind their health amid their busy schedules.

“Do they get adequate sleep?” Gorhe wondered and advised his car driver, `‘Dada (Ajit Pawar) has arrived, but don’t drive in zig-zag manner—better to go slowly and safely.’ ! So, in jest, I want to remind everyone—our health is important too,”Gorhe quipped.

Pawar admitted that indeed that they were working 24/7. “My day begins at 4 am and after the morning exercise, I begin work and end my day at 10 or 11 pm. Yes, the administration works tirelessly and Dy CM Eknath Shinde continues to work from 2 am to 4 am,” he said in a light-hearted response.

Pawar said that the officers are encouraged to work with enthusiasm as part of the Mahayuti government. He also recalled a meeting with PM Modi who had advised them to take one hour in the day for physical activity and ensure health check-ups every six months. “Mental health should not be neglected either,” he added.
