NCP again scotches speculations, says Ajit Pawar will stick to Baramati seat

AMIDST speculations that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar won’t contest the Assembly elections from Baramati, NCP state president Sunil Tatkare once again reiterated that there was no such possibility.
”Those are only rumours… Ajit Pawar will contest only from Baramati,” Tatkare told this paper when asked whether there was a possibility that the Deputy Chief Minister will shift to Shirur Assembly seat or Khadakvasla Assembly seat in Pune district.
Shivajirao Adhalrao-Patil, former Lok Sabha MP from Shirur, also denied any such possibility. ”There is no such possibility,” he said.
When asked whether Ajit Pawar had discussed the issue with him, Adhalrao replied in the negative.
Since Ajit Pawar indicated recently that he might not contest from Baramati, speculations have been rife that he might shift to either Shirur, Khadakvasla, Indapur or Vadgaonsheri seats. The NCP has been looking for a strong candidate in Shirur but hasn’t found one so far.
Meanwhile, Shriniwas Pawar, elder brother of Ajit Pawar, also scotched speculations that he might not contest from Baramati. ”Ajit Pawar has been telling voters that they should elect the candidate of his choice which means he is going to himself contest from the seat.,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pawar’s Jan Sanman Yatra today reached Akole Assembly constituency in Ahmednagar district. The Deputy CM inaugurated various development works in the Assembly aonstituency. Akole MLA Kiran Lahamate was also present at the occasion. Ajit Pawar offered tributes to Krantiveer Raghoji Bhangre and Bhagvan Birsa Munda as well as paid obeisance to Mata Kalsubai, Bhagvan Agastya Rishi, and Bhagvan Amruteshwar.
Ahead of Assembly elections, Ajit Pawar is seen trying to engage with the tribal community. During his statewide Jan Sanman yatra he participated in the community’s traditional dance. “I feel saddened by the protests led by Narhari Zhirwal. I understand the sorrow of the Adivasi community, and we will address their concerns,” he said. He also addressed gathering of women at Akole Bazar Tal in Akole assembly constituency.
Talking about the government’s flagship scheme Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme, he said the government will provide the installment of the next two months that is for October-November within eight days.
