Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi to deliver Gen BC Joshi Memorial Lecture 2025

The chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Tripathi will deliver the annual General BC Joshi Memorial Lecture organised by the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies of the Savitribai Phule Pune University on December 1.

The lecture will be held at 3 pm at Swarajyarakshak Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Auditorium, located in the Iravati Karve Social Science Centre Complex. The Navy Chief will deliver the lecture on the topic ‘Shaping India’s Future through Sea Power and Self Reliance: An Indian Naval Perspective’, a press statement from the Pune University said. Gen BC Joshi had a special association with Savitribai Phule Pune University, formerly the University of Pune. He initiated the “Chhatrapati Shivaji Chair for Policy Studies’ at the University,

“Late General Joshi was deeply committed to topics such as national integration, core values, Indian culture and civilization, environmental conservation, sustainable development, and national security. After his untimely demise in 1994, to honor his visionary thoughts and foresight, the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies of Savitribai Phule Pune University, in collaboration with the Headquarters of Southern Command, started the General BC Joshi Annual Memorial Lecture Series in 1995,” read the press statement.

“Earlier distinguished personalities such as Admiral Karambir Singh, General Bipin Rawat, Admiral Arun Prakash, General KV Krishna Rao, General Upendra Dwivedi, and several other eminent military dignitaries have delivered lectures in this memorial series. In 2022, Prof Dr. Vijay Khare published a collection of General BC Joshi Memorial Lectures on National Security by Pentagon Press. highlighting major strategic insights from previous lectures.” the statement added.

The event will be chaired by Vice-Chancellor Suresh Gosavi and will be attended by other senior officials of the University and the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies. Additionally, a large number of officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as respected members of the University’s Management Council and Senate, teaching non teaching staff and students will also remain present. “Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Head of the Department of Defense and Strategic Studies, Dr Vijay Khare, has appealed to everyone to take advantage of this program.” the release added.
