Kale was from Chikhali village in Shrigonda taluka of Ahilyanagar district. His wife Shilpa left home over some quarrels she had had with her husband and went to her maternal house in Yeola in Nashik district. Their children studied at an Ashram school in Ahilyanagar.

Police said Kale was upset because his wife had refused to come back to him. On Saturday, he took his children from the Ashram school on the pretext of cutting their hair. However, he instead took them on his motorcycle and headed towards his wife to get her back.

On reaching Korhale village in Rahata taluka, he had called his wife on mobile phone, but she did not respond to his calls and even blocked his cell number.

As a result, he got upset and threw his children one by one in the well and jumped into it.
