Maharashtra: Man held for attacking tuition teacher, snatching her gold chain

Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested a man who allegedly assaulted a tuition teacher’s head with a hammer like object and snatched her gold chain. Police have identified the accused as Ishwar Kailas Walhekar (34), resident of Buddhanagar in MIDC, Pimpri.

Police said the incident took place in the day on December 19 when the victim, aged around 50 years, was entering the lift of a building in Sangvi, where she takes tuitions.

The incident left the woman injured. A police team launched a search for the accused, and checked footage of CCTV cameras around the crime scene and other locations. The footage shows the accused fleeing the spot on a motorcycle with a fake number plate after snatching the train.

A crime branch team identified and nabbed the accused on Sunday. Police said a probe is on to recover the stolen gold chain, the bike on which he fled, and the object he used to attack the victim.
