Maharashtra: College student jumps from Metro station in Pimpri, condition critical

The police said the suspect may have attempted suicide due to some financial problems in his family, but an investigation is on to confirm the cause behind the incident.

A college student attempted suicide by jumping from the Sant Tukaram Metro station in Pimpri-Chinchwad around 6 pm on Monday. Police said the student identified as Sujal Mankar (21) was admitted to a hospital for treatment, but his condition is critical.

Senior police inspector Ashok Kadlag of the Pimpri police station said that Sujal is a student of Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) at the DY Patil College. Around 6 pm, he reportedly jumped from the Metro station in Pimpri.

After receiving information, a police team rushed to the police and took him to the YCM Hospital.

“There is no note. Prima-facie we suspect he attempted suicide due to some financial problems in his family. But an investigation is on to confirm the cause behind the incident,” said senior inspector Kadlag.
