IN VIEW of the rising land prices and increase in cases of land frauds, the Pune rural police have asked the victims of such frauds to file their complaints at its economic offences wing (EOW) instead of police stations.
A press release issued by the Pune rural police stated that people approach the police station with their complaints related to land scams. However, due to limited staff and work load, the complaints are not investigated properly at the police station level. So the complainants feel harassed and also gives rise to misunderstandings about the department. Therefore, the complainants have been asked to the approach the EOW located on the premises of Pune rural police headquarters on Pashan Road, states the press release .
Additional Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Shinde said, “We observed a rise in the number of visitors at the Pune rural police headquarters saying that their complaints of land frauds filed at the police stations are not being investigated. So we have decided that EOW, which is a specialised branch of investigation of financial frauds, will look into these cases” According to the police, there is huge rise in land prices in the jurisdiction of Dehuroad, Paud, Talegaon Dabhade, Talegaon MIDC, Wadgaon Maval, Kamshet, Lonavala city and rural, Haveli, Velha and Raigad police stations.
