While speaking at a book launch in Pune on Sunday, Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit referred to the Saturday evening bail hearing of activist Teesta Setalvad in July to cite the “influence” of what she called the “left ecosystem in the country”.

Pandit attended the event along with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Abhijit Jog, author of the book Jagala Pokharnari Dawi Valvi (loosely meaning ‘leftist ideology that hollowed the world’), at Pune’s Symbiosis International University.

“I want to say that to maintain political power, you need narrative control. Even today the left ecosystem is active. Did you know that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court opened the Supreme Court on Saturday at night to give Teesta Setalvad bail, It won’t happen for us. We need such an ecosystem and such control of narrative power,” said Pandit to supportive cheers from the audience.

In his speech, the RSS chief targeted communism by likening Indian leftists to “people with Asur-like characteristics”. He said the people with “Asur character” are not against just Hinduism or the country but against humankind.

“Such people do not care about the truth and facts but only about political correctness and wokeism. They have neither Marxism nor culture in their ideology,” he said.

Bhagwat said that Jog’s book would expose falsehoods and break what he described as the agenda of creating delusion through wrong interpretations.

“They (communists) spread asatya (falsehood), hinsa (violence) and amangal (unlucky) to raise their identity. Their identity is based on these lies. But our country is a country of ‘satyamev jayate’ that does not allow evil to win,” he said.
