Jain devotees from the city are demanding that the frequency of the Pune-Indore Express be immediately increased from thrice a week to four times a week. The service is popular among members of the Jain community,as it facilitates their visits to several important pilgrimage places in Madhya Pradesh, including Mohankheda and Nageshwar.

The train currently departs from Pune on the afternoon of Tuesday,Friday and Saturday and reaches Indore the next day. The returning train leaves Indore on Monday,Tuesday and Friday and reaches Pune the next morning. The devotees have also welcomed the decision of the Railways to provide a stop at Meghnagar which, they say, makes their travel to Mohankheda and Nageshwar more convenient.

“Till now the devotees had to get down at Ratlam and then struggle to reach to Mohankheda. They had to spend extra money and time doing this. Now with a stop at Meghnagar, the journey not only will the journey be convenient, the devotees will be able to visit a few more pilgrim points before taking the next train back to Pune,” said Shah.
