The parents of Rosary School met director of education Sunil Magar demanding the resignation of the Pune Municipal Corporation education chief,Ramchandra Jadhav.

The parents of Rosary School met director of education Sunil Magar demanding the resignation of the Pune Municipal Corporation education chief,Ramchandra Jadhav. The parents said that after sending a letter to them saying they will ask the school to stop asking for the money,Jadhav had sent another letter to the school saying they could collect the money as per the directions given by the court.

However,Jadhav said his letter has been ‘misrepresented’ and has called for a meeting between the school authorities,PMC officials and parents to discuss the matter.

The parents went to Magar after one of the parents got a call from the school asking them to pay postdated cheques. Ajay Sathe, president,Rosary parents association said,“One of the parents got a call from the school asking them to pay the fees by this month. They threatened the parent, referring to the letter sent by Jadhav, and said if the fees is not paid, the student wont be given admission in the coming academic year.”

Magar said collecting developmental fees from parents was illegal according to the capitation fee act of 1976.

At the education board office, the parents demanded an explanation from Jadhav. He said,“I had sent the school a letter about how the way in which they are collecting the money is illegal. In reply, they sent me a letter saying they were collecting the money by following the High Court order. I sent them a reply to this letter saying that they could collect the money as per the guidelines by the HC. However, the school misused this letter, put it up on the notice board and threatened parents to pay the fees, which is unjustified.”
