TCS and Tikona Digital Technologies notched up victories during their league round at the ongoing 7th Inter Information Technology Cricket Championship Trophy. While the match between Tikona Digital Networks and Imagination Technologies was a run fest with Sunil Nambiar of Imagination Technologies and Bryan Nanwar of Tikona Digital Networks notching up centuries for their respective teams,the other between TCS and Idea Cellular turned out to be a nailbiting contest with TCS edging out their opponents by a mere four runs. In the first match between Imagination Technologies and Tikona Digital Networks,Imagination technologies won the toss and elected to bat on a flat batting track. The decision proved good as Sunil Nambiar who opened scored an unbeaten 107 in 74 balls. He was ably supported by Mayuresh Khanvilkar who scored 38 runs. At the end of their stipulated 25 overs they set Tikona Digital a target of 181 after losing 6 wickets. The Tikona Digital Networks bowlers had hard time against Imagination as they were belted mercilessly across the park. Sachin Chordiya claimed 2 wickets while Puneet Oswal & Rahul Sethiya took 1 wicket each. Coming in to bat second Tikona Digital Networks lost their first wicket with 22 runs on board but then Bryan Nanwar came in to score a fast paced 114 unbeaten in just 55 balls. Owing to the ferocity of his batting they won the match in 18.1 overs losing just 1 wicket,scoring the runs at the rate of 10 overs per over. In the other match that was played between TCS and Idea Cellular TCS decided to bat first after winning the toss. The TCS batting however struggled with no major partnership or major score by any individual. Nikhil Kumar scored 16 runs,Nilesh Pavaskar and Sumit Patankar scoring 18 runs each were the only scorers. They finally set a target of 108 runs in 23.1 overs losing all wickets. Ritesh Parmar did the bulk of the damage to the TCS team by claiming 4 wickets. Idea Cellular came in to bat second but were deceived by the pitch as they lost their opening four batsmen with the scoreboard reading 20. However Shreeyas Parab and Neeraj Kumar shared a partnership of 56 runs,but after Shreeyas fell the other end crumbled. Idea Cellular eventually lost by 4 runs & faced 24.3 overs.
