DEPUTY Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said that India in the last 10 years of BJP rule under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the brightest spot in the world economy.
”In 2013, India was among the Fragile Five economies of the world, with the IMF and other financial bodies terming us as the most fragile economy. In 10 years, there has been a huge shift and we are on our way to become a developed economy. Today, India shines the brightest,” Fadnavis said at an event held at Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute on Saturday.
In the period from 2004 to 2014, Fadnavis said, India witnessed the worst downturn of its kind which hit the pace of development. ”This period is called the Decade of Decay. But after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge, the period from 2014 to 2024 has been India’s decade. India is at the centrestage of the world economy,” he said.
Fadnavis said former President APJ Abdul Kalam had envisioned a developed India in the new millennium. ”But for 10 to 15 years of the new millennium, nothing moved. Then in the last 10 years, after changes were made, the economy started prospering,” he said.
Fadnavis said that in the last 10 years, the country has gone through a never-seen-before transformation. ”Today we are among the five top world economies. And PM Modi has said that in his third term, India will rank third among the top five economies,” he said.
The PM dreams of a developed India by 2047, Fadnavis said, for which, “we need ambassadors of development who are experts in their respective fields.”
