The Crime Branch of Pune City Police has recovered as many as 162 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 54.67 lakh in a series of separate actions over the last one month.
Sub-Inspector Suresh Jaybhay, havaldars Nitin Munde and Sachin Pawar, and a team of Unit 6 of the Crime Branch arrested five persons this month, as per a press release.
They included history-sheeter Ajay Rameshrav Shende (28) of Daund in Pune district, who was earlier booked in 15 offences.
Police arrested Shende along with his four aides from Dharashiv district and Washim.
Various police teams and the anti-dacoity and anti-vehicle theft squad of Crime Branch collectively arrested 12 persons and recovered 162 two-wheelers from them.
Police said that of all the seized vehicles, 68 were Hero Honda Splendor.
