US President Barack Obamas down-to-earth attitude and his speech have impressed industrialists from Pune who attended the business summit addressed by him in Mumbai. While lauding the positive note the President has sent in his speech, they also hoped what Obama offers will benefit both countries equally.
Bajaj Auto chairman Rahul Bajaj,Kinetic Group chairman Arun Firodia and Praj Industries Limited chairman Pramod Chaudhari were among those who attended the meet.
Firodia said,Obama charmed everyone. Even if he has reserved major announcements for his meetings in the capital, here (Mumbai) he said a few things which put everything in quite a positive light. He talked about how the increase in trade between the two countries can create a win-win situation for both countries.
Obamas down-to-earth attitude impressed everyone, said Chaudhari .It was a great honour to see Obama in person. He has a tremendously unassuming personality and shook hands with everyone present. Also, his use of words like namaste,Mumbaikars, saal mubarak and Diwali showed he was very aware of our culture, said Chaudhari.
Bajaj said he hopes Obama will form policies that will benefit India. It is true Obama… has to work hard by trying to create more job opportunities for citizens of his country. But the fact remains our people and our country should not face losses in the process. It is fine that he is working for the welfare of his people, but in the process he should not ignore the needs of our country and countrymen, said Bajaj.
The mention of signing deals worth $ 10 billion between the two nations cheered all those present, said Chaudhari.
Talking of the arrangements,he added,Security was tight as expected, but very well managed…We had been given instructions about the time to reach the venue and had to go through two rounds of checks, once by Indians and the second by Americans. We had to furnish identity proofs, register ourselves and were given badges. The only problem was that the lounge was very crowded. Apart from that,we did not face any glitches.
