A case has emerged in Maharashtra wherein an unidentified person posing as an MLA called an industrialist to seek favours. An FIR was lodged in this case at Mhalunge MIDC police station in Pimpri Chinchwad on Saturday. As per a release on Sunday, police said a man claiming to be MLA Dilip Mohite of Khed Alandi constituency phoned Ashwin Garg, owner of Argee Plastics around 2 pm on November 16. “Amhala kahi sahkarya hoil ka, ata adchanit ahe (Can you help me as I am currently in trouble),” the man asked Garg, the press release said. Police have booked the accused person under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 204 (personating as public servant), 319 (2) (cheating by personation), and 62 (attempt to commit serious offence). Police said the accused tried to cheat the businessman by impersonating an MLA to seek financial or other favours. They are now trying to find out details of the accused caller. Notably, the attempt to impersonate the MLA came just days before Maharashtra is set to vote in the Assembly elections on November 20.
