Sanjay Patil, sub divisional officer (SDO),Maval, said the action was taken after a survey revealed that the buildings were constructed illegally.

The survey revaled that majority of the bungalows were constructed by third parties who had taken advantage of power of attorney made by them with farmers. When notices were issued by the SDO office to such constructions, the bungalow owners protested and appealed against the notices.

“The matter was referred to the government and we were asked to adhere to the original government resolution,” he said. Accordingly, the office of the SDO zeroed in on the constructions which were being used by third party. “We will relaunch the demolition drive as and when we notice any illegal structure,” he said.
