Indian Air Force (IAF) team on Friday won the 52nd Inter-Services Squash Championship,2013 that concluded at Air Force Station,Lohegaon,with a colorful and impressive prize distribution ceremony. The championship was held on behalf of South Western Air Command and Air Force Sports Control Board under the aegis of Services Sports Control Board. Indian Navy,the winners of the last edition,emerged runners-up while Army Red won the third position. In individual games,Sargent Sandeep Jangra of IAF bagged the top honours while CPO Vikas Jangra of Navy stood second. As many as four teams,comprising two from the Indian Army and one each from the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force,was represented by a total of 24 players under two categories - team and individual championships. The aim was to select best players to form services team that will participate at national level tournaments later this year, said a release issued by Press Information Bureau,Defence Wing. Air Marshal KS Gill,Commandant,National Defence Academy (NDA),congratulated the winning team and encouraged other participating teams for their sincere efforts. Air Commodore Surat Singh,Air Officer Commanding,Air Force Station,also appreciated players who maintained decorum of service through the tournament, the release added.
