Gold worth Rs 4.5 lakh stolen from guest rooms at officers’ mess complex of Southern Command, probe on

Gold ornaments worth Rs 4.5 lakh were stolen by unidentified persons from two guest rooms in the Officers’ Mess Complex of the Southern Command Headquarters in Pune Camp area.

An FIR was lodged in this case at the Lashkar police station on Saturday. As per the FIR, the theft took place between 8.45 pm on May 10 and 2.45 am on May 11.

Police said that gold ornaments of two Indian army officers who were staying in the two guest rooms were stolen. One of them lodged the FIR after they came to know about the theft.

A police team rushed to the spot after receiving information about the theft. Police said that the theft took place when the rooms were locked. Police suspect the burglars entered the room by breaking the windows and later escaped with the stolen jewellery.

Police said there was no CCTV camera outside the rooms. Police sub inspector Mahendra Kamble, the investigation officer of this case, said a probe is on and there is no breakthrough as of yet.
