Give incentives to doctors to serve in rural areas: Pawar

Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Sunday urged young doctors to work in rural areas where there is shortage of doctors and hospitals.

Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Sunday urged young doctors to work in rural areas where there is shortage of doctors and hospitals. “…But it is wrong to blame them for preferring to work in city areas. They also have a career to build,” Pawar said at the state-level convention of doctors organised by NCP’s Doctors Cell at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch.

Pawar said young doctors would go to rural areas provided they are given proper incentives and encouragement. “There is a pressing need for implementing some schemes to encourage doctors to work in rural areas,” he said.

In his welcome speech,Dilip Ghule,pradesh chief of the NCP Doctors Cell,said,“The cell has been set up with the objective of bringing together educated class from different strata of the society on a common platform and employing their skills for the betterment of the society.”

Health Education Minister Vijaykumar Gavit said since there was need for doctors in rural areas,it would be prudent to impart allopathy training to homeopathy students. “These students can undergo course in allopathy as it would help them discharge their medical duties in rural areas,” he said.

Mayor Mohan Singh Rajpal,Health Minister F Khan,MP Supriya Sule,NCP leaders Madhukar Pichad,Dr Madan Bafna,Ankush Kakade,NCP city president Vandana Chavan,Hemant Takle and Dinkar Tavde were also present on the occasion.
