A professor with Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) has lodged a complaint against the officiating director of the institute for putting an additional lock to his official residence while he was away. Arup Maharatna,a GIPE employee since 2001,was suspended in October 2012,following which he obtained a stay order from the Bombay High Court. According to the complaint,Maharatna had gone to Kolkata in May,when he received a letter from the officiating director of GIPE,Rajas Parchure, informing him that his official quarter B-3 where has been staying for last 12 years will be taken into possession. When I returned from Kolkata on June 10,I found an additional lock has been put up by the institute authorities to my residential quarters barring me from entering the residence allotted to me for which I pay rent, Maharatna, said in the complaint. Senior inspector Manohar Joshi of Deccan Police Station said after Maharatna approached them,a cop went to the GIPE campus and confirmed a lock has been put by the authorities. We have booked the officiating director and other staff under Section 341 of IPC for wrongfully restraining the complainant from entering his official residence, Joshi said.
