Gas leakage after road mishap causes panic in Nigdi

The firemen controlled the fire within 15 minutes.

Two trucks collided with each other near Bhakti Shakti junction in Nigdi around 4.30 am Friday. A truck carrying hydrogen gas cylinders overturned on the spot and caught fire. However, the fire brigade team reached the spot in time and extinguished the flames and stopped the gas leakage with the help of experts from Sandvik Asia company.

An auto rickshaw driver on the spot saw the mishap and informed the fire brigade.

Fire at oil, perfumes godown in Devachi

Fire broke out at a godown stocked with oil and perfumes in Devachi Urali at noon Friday. Fire brigade teams from Hadapsar and Kondhwa stations rushed to the spot with three fire tenders and a few private water tankers and brought the situation under control by 2 pm. “The cause behind the fire was not known,” said fireman Mahesh Phadrate.
