City Corporation Ltd (CCL) and State Bank of India (SBI),have come up with a joint initiative to issue multi-function smart cards to the residents of Amanora.
Amanora is a fully-integrated township and which is being set up by CCL at Hadapsar under the special township policy of the state government.
The township will now become the first ever Digital City in the country,where multiple technologies have been brought together to facilitate hasslefree living for its citizens.
The SBI-Amanora co-branded debit card will be the first hybrid combo card to be adapted for township residents. It is a combination of microchip,magnetic strip and RFID antenna.
With our development effort of over 1000 days along with leading technology partners,we are happy to have reached this stage of developing the first such dedicated and integrated application for residential purposes,said Aniruddha Deshpande,managing director,CCL.
Every citizen in the township will be given the card at the time of the possession of the flat,which will act as a multi-purpose smartcard and will facilitate many actions and transactions for them. The card,besides being a debit card for ATM transactions and also for point of sale machines at merchant establishments,will have functions like enabling access to township,residence,parking lot and different sectors within the township.
It can also be used for payment of cable television bills,club expenses,shopping at Amanora Town Centre,among others.
Amanora is the first project in the country to use pre-paid meters for electricity and cooking gas. This card will additionally have health records of the citizens in case of an emergency.
Bhaskar Neogi,general manager (personal banking) corporate centre,SBI said,Using technology in various fields of life is the future. This unique initiative will make life easy for the citizens and this might soon become a trend in the coming years.
An agreement to this effect was signed today between City Corporation and SBI. Aniruddha Deshpande and Bhaskar Niyogi signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. The citizens will not have to pay any extra cost for this card and more than 500 families would be joining next month to enjoy the benefits of this application.
