Flights connecting Mumbai, Bengaluru to Solapur to start from October 15

Flight services connecting Maharashtra’s Solapur to Mumbai and Bengaluru are set to commence on October 15, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol announced on Friday. Bookings for Star Air flights to both the destinations will start from September 20. The flights will be available on four days of the week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The Solapur Airport was renovated at a cost of Rs 60 crore in September 2024 and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, not many airlines have shown initiative in operating flights from the airport. Currently, it has a flight to a single destination– Goa–four days a week, operated by airline Fly91. Originally, the airline was supposed to launch flights to Goa and Mumbai from Solapur in December 2024 but this launch was postponed. Finally in June 2025, Fly91 inaugurated its flight service from Solapur to Goa.

Mohol wrote in a post on X, “This air service will provide Solapur residents with direct and swift air connectivity to Mumbai, the economic capital of the state, and Bengaluru, the industrial hub of South India. This new service will bring convenience to businessmen, entrepreneurs, students, and devotees alike…Connecting a historically, industrially, and culturally significant city like Solapur directly with Mumbai and Bengaluru was the need of the hour. This air service will not only save travel time for Solapur residents but also boost investment, job creation, and tourism in the region. I am confident that Solapur will play a more effective role in Prime Minister Narendra Modiji’s vision of a Developed India.”

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the Mumbai-Solapur flight from Mumbai on October 15.
