Ex-offcials of board seek probe into origin of fake marksheet

The mystery continues to shroud the origin of fake marksheet that was issued to an HSC student of SP College after February-March 2013 examination.

The mystery continues to shroud the origin of fake marksheet that was issued to an HSC student of SP College after February-March 2013 examination. Some senior ex-officials of MSBSHSE have demanded a proper investigation in the case, highlighting that the case could blow lid off possible racket in operation.

It is noteworthy that the board,in similar cases in Kolhapur division, had filed complaints with the police on its own. The marksheet in question was issued to Pranav Dnyaneshwar Mandke. After it was found that marksheet issued to him had different marks compared to the online result announced on the day of result,Pune division of the board examined the matter only to realise that marksheet was fake.

The board then debarred Mandke from taking the examination till October 2015 and asked SP college to file an FIR. The boy,in the meantime, moved the High Court. While the writ petition was disposed of as withdrawn on August 21,the court had asked the ‘young’ petitioner to make a presentation before state board seeking lesser punishment. The HC,in this context, had observed that his ‘entire career is at stake’.

The Pune division of the board, however, decided against lowering the punishment even after Pranav made a formal request. Filing an FIR in the case of fake marksheets has now become bone of contention between state board and the college.

“The board had lodged complaints on its own with the police after the cases of fake and forged marksheets were detected in Kolhapur division. The concerned institutes too approached the police that time, but with a request to probe any possible misuse of the document,” an ex- MSBSHSE head said.

Meanwhile,MSBSHSE action to derecognise the college has evoked sharp reaction for student unions like ABVP and Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena. “It may be technical issue as to who should file an FIR in fake mark-sheet case, but it makes no sense to prevent students from filling up examination forms and collecting marksheets of supplementary examination,” unions said.
