A former Indian Army personnel allegedly shot dead a man following a petty dispute over vehicle parking in the Yerwada area of Pune on Thursday night.

The police have arrested the assailant identified as Shrikant Patil in this case. The deceased Shahnawaz Shaikh was a tempo driver.

A quarrel broke out between Patil and Shaikh over the parking of a vehicle at Ashok Nagar in Yerwada around 11 pm on Thursday.

A prima facie probe by the police has revealed that Patil got agitated during the quarrel, and opened fire at Shaikh from a double-barrel gun.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but died while undergoing treatment, the police said.
