Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune achieves top ranks in NIRF 2025
4th in dental, 12th in medical, 41st in University category

In the recently released National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 rankings by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune has made a remarkable mark across multiple categories.
In this year’s rankings, the institution has secured the 4th position in the dental category, 12th in medical and 41st in University category. In a statement Dr P D Patil, Chancellor, D Y Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune (Deemed to be University) said that this achievement is a reflection of the Vidyapeeth’s commitment to quality education, cutting-edge research, state-of-the-art infrastructure and strong social responsibility.
The Vidyapeeth has been placed in the 11-50 band among institutions under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) category and achieved the 71st position in the overall category. “These rankings reflect our continued commitment to academic excellence,” Dr N J Pawar, Vice Chancellor Dr D Y Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune (Deemed to be University) told The Indian Express.
At a function held on Teachers’ Day, Dr Smita Jadhav, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr Yashraj Patil, trustee and others congratulated the staff and encouraged the team to achieve higher academic excellence.
When contacted, Dr. Brig S K Roy Chowdhury (retd), Dean, Dr D Y Patil Dental College and Hospital,Pimpri, Pune also added that the dental college has remained consistently in the top five ranks. High academic performance and research is encouraged and according to Dr Roy Chowdhury what is unique at the dental college is also a lab that is dedicated to research in molecular sciences.
He also added that a notable achievement was that 14 undergraduate students in the second year of the dental course had been awarded Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)- Short-term-studentship.
The main aim of the ICMR- STS programme is to provide an opportunity to undergraduate medical students to familiarise themselves with research methodology by being associated with their seniors on ongoing research programmes.
