Passengers heading to Mumbai in Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation’s (MSRTC) premium Shivneri buses were faced with multiple challenges at Pune Station bus stop on Sunday.

The ticket counters witnessed unusually long queues as compared to the regular days, causing ruckus in the queues.
Additionally, complaints arose about the night bus schedule being irregular.

On average, buses operate every 15 minutes from the station.

However, a dissatisfied passenger reported that the bus scheduled to depart at 8 pm left around 9 pm.

Felicia, another student traveller returning to her college, shared that she encountered difficulties buying a ticket and had to suffer over two hours of waiting in the queue.

“There were about 300 people ahead of me in the line. I stood in line from 6. 30 pm until 9 pm when I finally received my ticket, resulting in a delay for my travel,” said Felicia.

Kailash Patil, Divisional Traffic Officer, noted that the higher volume of commuters travelling to Mumbai was observed due to the first weekend after the public holiday.

“It often happens that we observe more volume of Mumbai-bound commuters on weekends at bus stops. The higher presence of people was seen this time due to Republic Day,” he said.

Patil added that around 800 buses operate 24 hours between Pune ST bus stops and Mumbai, and the congestion was observed at other stops too.

However, Bhushan Suryawanshi, Depot Manager of Swargate bus stand, said that there were no such issues at Swargate, and all buses maintained their schedule.

Patil also said that MSRTC had also operated additional buses of around 30 at each bus stop in Pune to avoid any issue inconvenience for the commuters.
