Daughter makes ex-Armyman who fought Kargil war proud

Nitin Karhale retired from the Army eight years later,is a proud father.

Nitin Karhale, who had taken part in the 1999 Kargil war and retired from the Army eight years later,is a proud father. His daughter Priyanka has scored the second highest marks in commerce at Kendriya Vidyalaya,Range Hills Estate. Priyanka’s family is proud of her for scoring 73.4 per cent in the 2013 CBSE class XII examination in spite of not getting private coaching like her classmates.

“We could not afford private coaching for Priyanka for her Board examinations, including this year’s Class XII. All her friends relied on private coaching over and above what was taught at school. She never got discouraged. She was second in the school due to her sheer hard work and the teaching at the school,” Karhale said.

The 45-year Karhale served the Army for two decades until 2007,when he opted for retirement. He joined the Pune rural police as store-keeper.

Karhale’s family has besides Priyanka,Karkale’s,wife, elder daughter and a 14-year-old son. They are all proud of Priyanka but she is not elated about her performance.

“I expected at least 80 per cent and the first rank in school. I am not satisfied with my score,” Priyanka said after the results were announced by the CBSE on Monday.

On her preparations for the examination she said she knew she had to depend on her own efforts in absence of private coaching. “I used to revise at home each lesson taught in school every day. All the hard work I put in paid off to some extent,” said Priyanka, attributing her success to her teachers at school.

She also dedicated her success to her elder sister, who is doing her graduation in Commerce. “My sister had also not got any private coaching and yet was good in studies. She inspired me and guided me,” said Priyanka.
