Cylinder blast in Ambegaon Khurd

As many as six persons,including a one-year-old boy,were injured in a LPG cylinder blast at Shani Nagar in Ambegaon Khurd early on Sunday morning.

As many as six persons,including a one-year-old boy,were injured in a LPG cylinder blast at Shani Nagar in Ambegaon Khurd early on Sunday morning.

The police have identified the injured as Tatoba Ilge (26),his wife Rekha (24),one-year-old son Sameer and five-year-old daughter Priyanka,and two family members Ujwala Gawde and Dhondiba Chougulkar.

Police suspect that the explosion took place at Ilge’s residence owing to leakage from the domestic LPG cylinder. Ilge and some of his neighbours work with a gas agency,police said. Around 6 am,when Ilge woke up and switched on a light,there was a spark and an explosion took place. Locals soon admitted the injured persons to hospital.

A police team led by inspector Satish Patil of Haveli police station and a fire brigade team led by fire offer Sanjay Ramteke reached the spot.

A fire tender and three water tankers were pressed into service for extinguishing the flames.

Police found seven LPG cylinder seals at the spot and are investigating whether illegal LPG cylinders were stocked at the spot.
