Cultural groups celebrate Durgotsav in Pune

On Monday, the organisation celebrated the first event of Durga Puja festival, Devi Baran (Mahalaya) at 6.30 am at Samsad Bhavan, Bhosale Nagar, which featured chanting of shlokas and devotional songs.

Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad, the oldest and the largest Bengali cultural organisation of Pune, is celebrating the 77th Sarbojanin Durgotsav 2016, from October 6 to October 11 (Vijaya Dashami) at the Congress Bhavan courtyard. The event will include various cultural events, including a quiz, a Bengali food festival, Aagamani Gaan by the students of Surajhankar, a dance programme based on the festivals of eastern India and a Bengali Shrutinatok.

Kalyaninagar Durgotsav celebrations by Nandanik Sanstha will begin from October 7 at Rohi Villa Palace, Koregaon Park. “This year, Nandanik Sanstha is celebrating their 13th year of organising Kalyaninagar Durgotsav. The event will feature in-house, local and national-level artistes presenting music, dance and drama programs, which are the essence of Bengali culture and heritage.”

Banga Bharati, a socio-cultural organisation in Pimpri-Chinchwad, which was established in 1974, will be celebrating Durgotsav from October 6 to October 11. Some of the activities which will take place include Ananda mela and cultural programme, Pushpanjali, Sindur Utsav, immersion procession and Bijoya Sammelan, among others.
