The Computer Society of India (CSI) will hold its 44th annual convention in Pune from October 8 to 10. The convention will showcase CSIs national initiatives in information technology,informed chairman of the organising committee of the convention Deepak Shikarpur on Wednesday.
Talking to the media Shikarpur said the theme of this years convention is Technology led inclusive growth.
Innovations in e-governance projects in various states will be on focus and IT secretaries of Kerala,Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh will present their case studies and future plans.
Shikarpur said Kerala has launched Akshaya project to make every citizen computer and mobile literate. The IT secretary of Kerala will make a presentation on this project. Workshop and tutorials dealing with the emerging trends in IT field will be held in parallel sessions. Special informative programmes will be arranged for students, he said.
There will be a section dedicated to budding entrepreneurs where they can get tips or directly interact with the top officials of IT giants, said Shikarpur. He said the convention would greatly benefit the IT industry in the city.
The last time when the city hosted a CSI convention was in 1978. Ever since,the CSI has held its conventions only in capital cities. However,strong lobbying for Pune finally bore fruits in 2006 and it was decided to hold the 44th convention in Pune.
The keynote session will be attended by scientists R A Mashelkar,Vijay Bhatkar,vice president of IBM Anant Jhingaran and CEO of Zensar Ganesh Natrajan. CSI fellowship awards and Nihilent e-governance awards will be one of the highlights of the event. According to Shikarpur,around 1,000 delegates are expected to turn up for the convention. The event will be webcast live on CSI website.
