Patil was earlier posted at the Pune unit of the state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He had arrested Nutan Kadve, the then land superintendent of Pune Cantonment Board on December 29,2007,for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 1,500 from Padmavati Gujar of Kondhwa Khurd.

An offence under several sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act were registered against Kadve at the Wanavdi police station.

Patil was the investigation officer in this case. He had submitted the charge sheet in this case in November 2010.

Patil was also a witness in this case. But for the past one year he did not appear before the court for deposing as a witness. So the prosecution appealed to the court that a non bailable warrant be issued against him. The court, however, decided to give him a last chance and issued a bailable warrant.

The next hearing in the case will take place on August 6.
