Congress office bearer found dead at cooperative credit society office in Pune, suicide suspected

In a suspected case of suicide, a Congress office bearer, Vikas Shivaji Tingare (49), was found dead at the office of a cooperative credit society located in the Porwal Road area of Pune on Tuesday evening. Tingare used to head the Vadgaon Sheri block Congress committee.

Officials from Vimantal police station said that the incident came to light around 6 pm Tuesday. Some employees at the office rushed Tingare to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“Tingare was found dead at the office of a cooperative credit society which is housed in an apartment in a building on Porwal Road. Preliminary investigation points to suicide. We have found a suspected suicide note. An investigation is being conducted into the sequence of events leading to the death,” Senior Inspector Vilas Sonde, in-charge of Vimantal police station, said.

When asked about the contents of the note, Sonde said that it was being investigated.

Ramesh Iyer, general secretary and spokesperson for Congress in Pune city said that Tingare was heading the Congress block unit for the Vadgaon Sheri area in Pune and had been a Congress worker for several years.
