citybriefs: Showers in city,Met says monsoon may set in after June 8

Some parts of the city experienced a heavy spell of pre-monsoon showers while light rain occurred in other areas in the afternoon and evening on Wednesday. The total rainfall recorded in the city was 3.2 mm. The south-west monsoon has covered the entire Goa,some parts of south Konkan and south Madhya Maharashtra,said Met officials. “There has been a sudden weakening of the south-west monsoon on Wednesday and though pre-monsoon showers will continue in the city,it is likely that the onset date will be pushed further,” said Sunita Devi,director,weather central IMD,Pune.
